Combatting Wildlife Crime Manager, Gillian Rhodes, and Kate Ohlhoff, Fund Development Manager, are meeting with Ambassador Reuben Brigety, the U.S. ambassador to South Africa to give an overview of Peace Parks’ work and more specifically, our Combating Wildlife Crime initiatives.
The ambassador is here because the U.S. is a major donor to the South African Government and a long-time partner of Peace Parks Foundation, working in conservation to safeguard South Africa’s biodiversity.
The ambassador’s message was that the U.S. is firmly committed to being a partner to South Africa in protecting South Africa’s wildlife.
“It’s really been an incredible opportunity for Peace Parks to be able to firstly meet the ambassador and then to showcase the incredible work that we’ve been doing over the past seven years with support from the U.S. Department of State. Over the years, their support has enabled the programme to evolve into the current programme that we have today, which is the Integrated Wildlife Zones programme,” says Gill.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from the U.S. Government and the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, they’ve been unwavering partners in this issue.”
