Imagine being told you have to learn to fly a plane as part of your job. That’s what happened to ranger Gordon. He’s pretty anxious about his first lesson, especially as he’ll soon be moving to Livingstone, where it is an essential skill in order to get around. When your office is in southern Africa, it can take days to reach parts of it by road, so being able to pilot a light aircraft such as the Bantam is invaluable, both for surveillance as well as conservation. The Bantam is a simple and practical, nimble in the sky and easy to handle, but will Gordon pass with flying colours?
