Meet Dusty – Mozambique’s very own James Bond of the wild!
This expert navigator of ecological corridors has been roaming the vast landscapes of Mozambique’s Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area. In this PeaceParks.TV episode, a team of wildlife veterinarians from the Mozambique Wildlife Alliance is replacing his tracking collar.
The original collar was placed on Dusty through a partnership with Elephants Alive.
Tracking Dusty’s travels is key to understanding elephant migration across this transboundary landscape, which is home to Zinave, Limpopo, and Banhine national parks.
Thanks to cutting-edge monitoring through EarthRanger, management teams can keep track of where wildlife is moving. If an elephant, for example, comes too close to a community, rangers can be deployed to help guide the animal away from precious crops. This goes a long way in building peaceful relationships between humans and wildlife.
Follow along as we continue to work towards a future where both people and wildlife thrive. Stay tuned to PeaceParks.TV for more updates on this exciting operation.
