Logging is strictly prohibited in Zinave because the park has a rich variety of valuable tree species. Unfortunately, with such incredible forests covering much of the parks’ 408,000 ha, illegal operations do go on. Traced through a combination of aerial surveillance and patrols, when operations are shut down the wood is seized. Confiscated logs like these are repurposed into desks for local schools or used in accommodation facilities so it does not go to waste. However, the goal remains to eradicate illegal logging completely within the park.
