In this PeaceParks.TV episode, SA College for Tourism’s hospitality campus corridors are flooded with emotion as graduates from the class of 2024 are capped and ready to kickstart their careers.

With 85 students from the college’s hospitality programmes and 32 from the Lodge, Tracker and Rhino Guardian programmes, the Graaff-Reinet-based college celebrates a 100% pass rate for the year.

In a moving speech on behalf of the graduating class, Robyn Leigh, extends heartfelt gratitude to donors who support the college and give unemployed youth an opportunity to further their studies.

“To donors near and far, we owe you more than words can express. You have planted seeds and opportunities for generations to come. Know that your impact is attached to our hearts and will be reflected in the futures that we create.”

The SA College for Tourism is a non-profit organisation, supported by Peace Parks Foundation, which provides professional training to unemployed men and women from impoverished rural backgrounds. These new skills equip them for positions in the nature-based tourism industry.

Mariette Ferreira, SA College for Tourism Executive Director, says: “The thing that’s so incredible is that we’ve got a 100% deployment rate for the class of 2023. So, we’re hoping to follow in that same track for [the 2024] graduates.”

Stay tuned to PeaceParks.TV as we follow their ongoing journey.
