Hélsio Azevedo, Maputo National Park’s Tourism Manager was moving and shaking to the beat of the 2023 edition of Africa’s Travel Indaba held in May in Durban, South Africa. Representing both Mozambique’s Administration for Conservation Areas (ANAC) and Peace Parks Foundation, he showcased the very best that the exquisite Mozambican park has to offer to tourists and investors alike.
The vibrant three-day tradeshow event hosted by South African Tourism, gives African tourism exhibitors the perfect stage to present their products to local and international customers, destination marketing firms, and partners in leisure tourist services, and also offers exhibitors the opportunity to interact directly with global investors.
The spectacular Maputo National Park, just one and a half hours from Maputo, is one of the most biologically diverse and endangered ecoregions on Earth. On land, it is home to fresh lakes, swamp forests, and grassland plains; on the coast, dune forests, mangrove forests, and long white beaches; and that’s all before going below the surface, in the warm Indian Ocean, with healthy seagrass beds and a kaleidoscope of coral reefs. From rugged campsites to 5-star lodges, the range of accommodation on offer for all budgets offers a tangible gateway to experiencing this incredible diversity.
With so much to offer, it’s no wonder Helsio’s stand, featuring promotional videos and brochures and showcasing the companies operating in the park, dazzled onlookers. Visitors to the stand also got a sneak peek at the newly constructed 72-bed Membene Lodge!
Taking the opportunity to share knowledge with fellow tourism managers and get up-to-date on the latest global trends and local insights in the African tourism industry, Helsio also attended the Africa’s Travel Indaba Business Opportunity Networking Day. He participated in talks and meetings with 35 organisations, including travel and tourism agencies, communication entities, and regional governmental institutions.
Attendance at the Indaba will no doubt open the door to more visitors to Maputo National Park. The park’s friendly staff look forward to sharing the best the park has to offer. So what are you waiting for? Visit parquemaputo.gov.mz now to book your stay at Mozambique’s latest crown jewel.
