Elephants caught out

Snares are the silent killer of African wildlife. The team here in Maputo Special Reserve operate regular snare sweeps to find and remove these lethal wire traps. You can see here how snares can end up causing serious injury to unintended victims such as this elephant. An important part of the rangers’ job is to look out for the welfare of the wildlife, and here they decide that luckily this elephant can manage without their intervention.
