“True conservation will happen when a wildlife hero on the front line has everything they need to be fully effective – we intend to give them these tools”, so says Ivan Carter of the Ivan Carter Wildlife Conservation Alliance. One of these tools is the collar. Collars use satellite communication or radio frequency to track animals’ movements which helps to understand the threats they face in order to better protect them. So, for example, if an alert comes in from an animal outside a protected area at risk of human-wildlife conflict, teams know where to go to help it back home.
