Ian, a project manager at Peace Parks Foundation, catches up with some residents from Nakalumba in Simalaha on their way to the Mwandi market. Their produce is a result of an excellent harvest thanks to a delivery of treadle pumps which made watering fields much easier. However, their 50km round trip will be done on foot. It is hard and hot work; in Zambian currency, 2 kwacha is roughly 9 American cents, which will buy them small food items like nuts. To help them out, Ian gave them a lift back home at the end of the day.
