Treadle pumps can literally change communities’ lives. Without these, the women have to carry heavy buckets of water up from rivers or pans. Here, in one of the Simalaha villages there are prayers before the new pumps are primed and celebrations afterwards. These pumps will save hours of work and will result in better crop yields as water can be more easily distributed where it is most needed.
