In an effort to bring you closer to the action on the ground, Peace Parks Foundation launched PeaceParks.TV, which today celebrates its 100th day.
In the mission to restore Africa’s wild spaces, Peace Parks Foundation has taken us behind the scenes of the daily wildlife conservation efforts. Every day you’ve seen and heard from the people on the ground (and in the air!) that are working tremendously hard to fulfil the Peace Parks Foundation dream: to re-establish, renew and preserve large functional ecosystems that transcend man-made boundaries – thereby protecting and regenerating natural and cultural heritage vital to enabling and sustaining a harmonious future for humankind and the natural world.
In layman’s terms this means reinventing the conservation narrative. PeaceParks.TV brings you the landscapes of southern Africa, the incredible wildernesses of the national parks, the wildlife, the drama…all filmed on the ground as it happens by the passionate people who work for Peace Parks Foundation.
Peace Parks.TV keeps you emotionally and intellectually connected to conservation by taking you inside Peace Parks Foundation. You see into the world of the rangers, the CEO, the planner and the project managers. You hear about how their work life overlaps with their personal ambitions. You see how sensitively the wildlife is handled in the incredibly tricky operation of translocating animals from one part of Africa to another. Of course, there is the dramatic scenery and the majestic animals but what PeaceParks.TV hopes to give you is a glimpse into the inner world of conservation. What is it really like to raise a child in the African bush? What fuels philanthropists to donate funds to translocate giraffe or elephant? How do rangers manage in camp? PeaceParks.TV aims to answer these questions and more.
Keep watching for the next 100 days where there will be more of rangers Sean and Gabriel, more of Hunter the dog who we have all fallen in love with, more from Werner Myburgh the CEO who turns out to be really pretty good in front of the camera, more of the incredible wildlife and flora, more from the colleges that are training young people in the skills of tracking, hospitality, herding and community development… just more of everything to do with Peace Parks Foundation and their incredible work in southern Africa.
